As an Army veteran who served two tour of duty back in 1958 and 1961 I like to put in a few words after

Believe me that is not the proper approach to get into the Army. In the years that I served in the Army and
Most of the junior officers under the Company Commander are Second Lieutenant and most of them were
Graduated from West Point or some Military Academy in the States. It’s utmost important that you have the
Training and knowledge to lead your men into combat. My first tour of duty was 1959 stationed in Seoul, Korea,
And I have witnessed the American Cemetery on a Korean hill and covered with countless white crosses from
Top to bottom and those were the one never made it home and that’s the reality of war. My second tour of duty
Was 1961, it was less than a year after I came back from Korea and I was recalled by then President John Kennedy
For the Berlin Crisis emergency and have to report to Fort Lenard Wood immediately and wait for order to fly to
West Berlin to face the Russians. But this time I was married and my wife was from HK whom I met during my R & R
There when I was in Korea. It was a tough situation for her to be on her own in a strange country and that’s personal
Sacrifice and you have no control. But as a soldier serving your country when you are needed and I’m proud to have
Worn the uniform. People often asked about prejudice due to color of your skin and my answer is no as all my two
Tour of duty were assigned to all white Company, especially the one in Korea the kids were from all parts of the United
States and we became the best of friends. And the second one they were all Mormons from the state of Utah and I
Was Spec 5 (E -5 ) and I have people working under me.
